Matthew
Hi my name is Matthew Bergheger born and raised in St. Louis, MO, born on March 20, 1980. I have been facinated with the siberian Husky ever since I was a young boy and my grandparents bought a show siberian for a pet. I got married to Jaime in October 2001 and wanted to get a dog. My wife wouldn't allow me to get a dog becasue the house was to small. We had a son in 2002 and when he was old enough to talk, the two of us hounded Jaime until one day she said yes. I called every human society, animal shelter, etc until I located a Siberian husky and told them I was coming to pick her up. That is what started everything.
I taught Tundra to pull me on roller blades just for exercise for the both of us. Since huskies are pack dogs she needed someone to play with so about 6 months later we resued another Siberian, and then for Christmas Jaime bought me another Siberian. Three dogs on roller blades got to dangerous so we bought a rig from Frank Hall. This was the first time Jaime got to ride with the dog pulling, and she was addicted too.
We have now switched to Seppala Siberians and currently have a small kennel. We are in the process of wanting to move up to North and build the kennel we want with the ultimate goal of running the Iditarod.
Needless to say the entire family is addicted and we still have a small house, but Jaime loves the dogs and racing.
Please look for us at races throughout the midwest from sprint races my wife runs to mid distance that I run.
